The handwritten note on the back reads 'This drawing shows the effects of a poisonous dose of sulphate of copper upon the mucous membrane of the stomach. The poison was intentionally swallowed'.

Drawing of the interior of the stomach, showing a large patch of softening of the mucous membrane, there is no appearance of inflammatory actions[?]. Nothing is known of the history of the case'. The back of the illustration is lined with canvas.
